Oneida Shores Park beach closed for E. Coli outbreak

Cicero — The Oneida Shores Park beach is closing after high levels of E. coli were found in the water, according to the Onondaga County Health Department.

Swimming is closed until further notice, the department announced Tuesday.

The health department is monitoring the bacteria levels in the water every day. Once bacteria levels are back to normal swimming will be allowed again.

The park itself remains open.

E. coli can be harmless or cause brief diarrhea, officials said. Other times it can cause other gastrointestinal problems. Anyone concerned about their health should contact their doctor, they said.
