TNIAAM Syracuse Pre-Game Jitter Thread: College Football Saturday Edition Finals

No longer need to be reminded that the Syracuse Orange Football team needs a win over the Pittsburgh Panthers to play a bowl game, so you might decide to watch other college football-related games instead. This is probably for the best since it is the last college football Saturday of the season, much to your chagrin or joy, depending on your attitude.

Below we have some Syracuse-related links that you should catch up in case you missed them. Also a little guide to the biggest games of the day before SU’s late kick against Pitt.

And now the action on Saturday before 7:30 p.m. …

(all times ET)

Non-ACC games that will interest you

No. 2 State of Ohio Horse chestnuts at No. 5 Michigan wolverines, Noon (ABC)

A win in Ohio brings the Buckeyes back to the Big Ten title game. One loss ends a decade of Wolverines’ futility and puts Michigan in the top four.

Miami (OH) RedHawks at Kent State Golden Flashes, noon (ESPN +)

Former Orange OC Sean Lewis is a win from leading Kent State – one of the toughest jobs in the FBS – to the MAC title game.

# 22 UTSA Roadrunners in North Texas Mean Green, 2 p.m. (ESPN +)

The main thing here is keeping UTSA undefeated, which I think is fun.

No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide at Maroon tigers, 3:30 p.m. (CBS)

Auburn has a chance to play spoilers as Alabama’s playoff chances would take a big hit with a loss here. Alabama is extremely good too, so there’s a good chance the excitement doesn’t happen.

Oregon State Beaver at No. 11 Oregon ducks, 3:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Some actual stakes for both teams here! If the Ducks win, they’ll be the Pac-12 North champions and face Utah (again) in the conference title game. If not, they’re in a threesome with the Beavs and Wazzu – which gives the Cougars the split.

Penn State Nittany Lions at No. 12 Michigan State Spartans, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)

It’s a battle of enormous expansions as both James Franklin and Mel Tucker have scored big goals in the past few weeks.

Indiana Hoosiers at Purdue boiler manufacturer, 3:30 p.m. (FS1)

There’s nothing to see here for Indiana, which fell off a cliff after high expectations at the start of the year. The Boilermakers could have tied for the Big Ten West title with one win and one loss for Wisconsin and Iowa, but since the Hawkeyes won on Friday, they are only playing to beat their state rival.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Marshall Thundering Herd, 3:30 p.m. (CBSSN)

The schedule ends with these teams receiving a de facto C-USA East championship game as the winner wins the division (WKU directly on a win, Marshall by tiebreaker if they win).

No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers at Minnesota Golden Gophers, 4 p.m. (FOX)

A Badgers win gives them the Big Ten West. Minnesota could have won the division itself with a win and a loss in Iowa and a Purdue win.

ACC action

number 1 Georgia Bulldogs at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Noon (ABC)

Go on…

No. 18 Raise Forest Demon Deacons at Boston College Eagles, Noon (ESPN2)

If you want to see Wake play Pitt in the conference title game, the Deacs are the place for you. If Clemson then cheer for BC. I don’t think anyone here wants Clemson to get a chance for the ACC crown AND want to stand up for the Eagles.

Florida State Seminoles at Florida Gators, Noon (ESPN)

A bowl game is at stake for both teams, which feels weird.

Hurricanes in Miami at Duke Blue Devils, 12:30 p.m. (RSN)

Above all: Duke tries to avoid 0-8 in the league game.

Virginia Tech Hokies at Virginia Cavaliers, 3:45 p.m. (ACCN)

UVA can even finish second in the Coastal with a win, while Tech seeks to spoil the Hoos’ season finale and win a bowl for themselves.
