Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse finishes in top 5 in preseason poll

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team is just two spots off the top in the first Inside Lacrosse/IWLCA Preseason Top 25 Poll of the season.

The orange was ranked 3rd in the poll published on Monday.

Syracuse meets eight of last season’s top-10 teams, including five on the road, and eleven of the top-25 overall.

All six ACC teams are ranked in the top 11 of the poll.

Seven players from Syracuse were named to Inside Lacrosse’s preseason All-America team. The seven selections make up the second-highest total of any school in the country.

Defending champion Boston College tops the poll.

The Orange lost to the Eagles in the 2021 national championship game. SU head coach Kayla Treanor was an assistant to the Eagles before coming to Syracuse. Tewaaraton Award winner Charlotte North is returning for another season for the Eagles. Syracuse will travel to Boston College on April 23 for the conclusion of the regular season.

North Carolina ranks second in the survey. Syracuse, Northwestern, and Notre Dame round out the top five.

Syracuse opens the season on February 11 at the Carrier Dome against No.13 Stanford.
