Owner allows cocaine in Amityville deli, police say

The owner of a Long Island deli is being charged for allegedly allowing customers to use illegal drugs in his business, authorities said.

Sharon Solemani-Sharifian, 53, owner of Shalom Delight Deli in Amityville, was one of three people arrested Saturday, January 28, following an investigation by Suffolk County Police.

After receiving several complaints from community members about the deal, officials, working with the Amityville Village Building Inspector and Fire Marshal, conducted an investigation into the state Alcohol Administration.

Around 10 p.m., officers saw two customers at the deli with cocaine in sight, according to police.

Investigators also reported finding unclaimed drugs on the floor.

Solemani-Sharifian, of East Northport, was arrested on a second-degree criminal harassment charge, a misdemeanor for allegedly allowing the couple to gather at the store “with intent to take drugs,” police said.

He was later released on his own and is scheduled to appear in the First Circuit Court in Central Islip on Friday February 17.

Police identified the customers as Juan Hernandez, 34, and Manuel Martinez-Quintanilla, 31, from West Babylon. Both were charged on Sunday January 29 with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

According to police, the village of Amityville also issued two subpoenas to a deli worker for violating the village code.

The state Alcohol Board is expected to investigate the deal further.
