Fatal LIE Crash: ID released for Selden Man who was hit by 2 vehicles after exiting F-150 at Melville

The identity has been released of a man who was killed after being hit by two different vehicles while getting out of his pickup truck parked on the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday, January 22 in Melville.

A man was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 on the West Side when he pulled over to the curb and got out of the vehicle, Suffolk County Police said.

He then went into the middle lane of the highway west of Exit 50 and was hit by a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by a 40-year-old Franklin Square man at about .

He was then struck by a second westbound vehicle, a 2007 Hummer, which police said was being driven by a 49-year-old Brentwood man.

The victim, now identified as Ronald Yher, aged 72, of Selden, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office.

Neither the driver of the Malibu nor the Hummer were injured in the crash.

The Ford F150, Chevrolet Malibu and Hummer were all impounded for security checks.
