Centro cuts price of NY State Fair shuttle service

Geddes, NY — Centro’s shuttle service to the New York State Fair will be $1 each way this year, half the cost from previous years.

The fares are the same as Centro’s current fares for its city bus services, which were reduced in March from $2 per ride to $1. The shuttles will operate daily to the Main Gate from the downtown Syracuse Transit Hub and parking lots at Destiny USA and Long Branch Park.

The fare for the Park-N-Ride shuttles is $1 for adults, 50 cents for persons with a disability, seniors and children 6-9 years of age. Children under 6 years old who are accompanied by an adult are free. Parking at Destiny USA and Long Branch Park is free. Schedules for Centro’s State Fair service are available on the Centro website.

“This is great news for fairgoers, especially families looking to enjoy our Great New York State Fair. A family of four can now get to and from the Fair from these locations for less than $10,” said Centro Chief Executive Officer Brian Schultz.

Schultz said $250,000 in state funding secured by Assemblyman William Magnarelli helped offset the costs of operating the Park-N-Ride this year.

Centro will also operate free shuttles from the State Fair’s pay parking lots at the Orange Lot and Willis Avenue. The State Fair website will update the hours of operation for those locations.

As of today, the state Department of Health guidelines mandate riders must still wear a mask while using public transit.
