Baby Whisperer’s cop helps with fifth childbirth in five years

Shirley, New York– A standout Suffolk County police officer earned the nickname “Baby Whisperer” after giving birth to five babies in five years.

On Nov. 26, Suffolk County Officers Zachary Morning, Jadin Rodriguez, Conor Diemer and Sgt. Jon-Erik Negron helped save baby Owen’s life.

Owen Anthony Maldonado was born almost three weeks premature in his family’s living room.

For most officers, it was the first delivery, but for Sgt. Negron, it was his fifth.

He became godfather to the third child he gave birth in 2017 after baby Bryce stopped breathing because an umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck.

In 2017, Negron and another officer assisted in the birth of a baby girl on the side of the road in Centereach.

“When I became a sergeant this year I thought my birthdays were over and I guess the record lives on so we’ll see how many we can take with that,” Negron said.

As for the safe birth of baby Owen, the other officials said it was a beautiful experience made possible through teamwork.

“It was a great experience, all our training worked, we all played a big part,” said Rodriguez. “Everyone took over and we couldn’t have done it without each other.”

Mom, dad and baby are all resting at home.

Although they no longer met with officers, Mom says she was grateful they were there because she was scared and grateful for their quick response.
