🌱 Search For Wild Cat’s Origin + Free Pet Microchipping Clinics

Here are the top three stories in Miller Place-Rocky Point today:

  1. A wild cat that may be an Eurasian lynx was captured after three days of being spotted around Islip and West Islip. Authorities are trying to identify where the animal came from, and the cat is being rehabilitated at Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown until a permanent home can be found. (Subscription: Newsday)
  2. A play is raising money for Suffolk County’s Response Crisis Center, the 24-hour resource for people feeling depressed. “Every Brilliant Thing,” will run eight shows through the end of August at Port Jefferson’s Theater Three and the show’s producers will donate half of what they gross to the crisis center.   3. On Friday Suffolk County launched a free microchip program with three free clinics. Paws of War, a Nesconset-based nonprofit that provides dogs and veterinarian services to veterans and first responderss, is teaming up to offer the free service to residents, Aug. 11 in Yaphank and Sept. 17 in Patchogue.   • Cake Fairylanda bakery specializing in pastries, puffs, cakes, coffee, tea, slushies, milkshakes and more, opened in Stony Brook this month. (LongIsland.com)
