Woman killed in accident on Long Island with drunk driver, police say

According to police, a woman was killed in an accident on Long Island in which a drunk driver was involved.

It happened on Friday, December 3rd, shortly after 2 p.m. in Elmont in front of Elmont Road 272.

When police officers arrived on site, they discovered a 2014 BMW sedan on the side.

The investigation found that the vehicle was traveling south on Elmont Road when it encountered a parked car, which caused it to roll over and hit a power pole, Nassau County police said.

A 33-year-old passenger was admitted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, the police said. She was pronounced dead by hospital staff a short time later.

The 40-year-old driver Kwesi Williams from Queens Village was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital, according to police. After further investigation, Williams was taken into custody.

Williams was charged with:

  • Second degree manslaughter
  • negligent homicide of the second degree,
  • Driving while drunk.

He will be charged when it makes medical sense.

The victim’s identity is not yet known.
