Weekend Market Syracuse celebrates its grand opening

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – Just because it’s the start of a new year doesn’t mean the holiday shopping has to end.

Neighbors in Syracuse were able to visit downtown Syracuse for the opening of the weekend market.

Here’s how to make sure you’re getting the best deals when you’re Christmas shopping

Weekend Market is an antique market with several local vendors and brands.

Bruce Block has been selling antiques at Antique Underground for 20 years and started the weekend market to give other vendors a chance to showcase their items.

“There’s antique dealers, artists, people who make furniture, repurpose things and so on.” Block said, “We also have fair trade, I wear a fair trade jacket, these are things from around the world, made by different people women’s groups or things like that were made.”

You’ll find local vendors such as the Treasure Hunt Shoppe, which sells vintage jewelry inspired by Native American culture, as well as the Black Citizen’s Brigade, which sells vintage clothing from the 1950’s through the 80’s.

“I really enjoy collecting these clothes because they are amazing and have stood the test of time,” said Cjala Surratt, owner of the Black Citizen’s Brigade.

The market is now open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm, giving everyone a chance to check it out.
