A video on TikTok is going viral for reportedly showing how ridiculous food prices have become in New York City.

This is New York, and if you live in the Empire State, you know by now that living here is expensive. How expensive is it compared to other states? According to Rent Cafe, the cost of living in upstate New York was 55% higher than the rest of the country in 2022. They report that rent is 148% higher, health care is 3% higher, public transportation is 9% higher, and goods and services are about 16% higher.

Groceries are a staggering 21% more expensive. It’s not clear if this is calculated from eating out, grocery shopping, or both. I have to assume that these costs have increased significantly since the recent increase in supply chain problems. Especially in New York City.

A video recently posted on TikTok has garnered a lot of attention for showing how insanely high the prices of certain groceries have gotten in New York City. The video was uploaded to TikTok just a few days ago, but has already received over 1 million views and thousands of comments.
