Suffolk Police to Sound Beach Residents: Shetler in the middle of the house barricade situation

Suffolk Police urged Sound Beach residents to seek refuge Sunday while authorities attempt to defuse a situation where a person was barricaded in a house on Babylon Drive.

“Residents in this area should seek refuge until further notice due to police activity,” Suffolk Police said in a 2:41 pm warning. “Please stay away from windows and doors.”

A Suffolk police officer said she had no information on what led to the barricade situation or whether the person was armed.
