Suffolk officials save the life of a woman in a house fire on Bay Shore, police say

Four Suffolk County police officers reportedly saved the life of a 26-year-old woman and rescued her from a burning house on Bay Shore early Monday.

Police said third district officers Ronald Racioppi, Christopher Grenia, Richard Meyer and Thomas Komoroski arrived at the house on Udall Road around 12:45 p.m., where a resident who escaped the house fire told them that another woman was included in it.

The officers broke open the front door of the house and entered to find heavy smoke. It was then when one of the officers went outside again, looked in the window – and saw the woman in a back room of the house.

The three officers shouted instructions to the other officers and were able to reach the woman who the police said was “semi-conscious” and carry her out of the house. She was treated on the spot and released.

The officers were taken to South Shore University hospital in Bay Shore for treatment for smoke inhalation, police said.

Further details were not immediately available on Monday and officers were not available for interviews.
