ALBANY – New York’s state of emergency “is self-inflicted damage caused by Governor Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio and their failed leadership,” said Colin Schmitt (R, New Windsor), Republican MP for Hudson Valley state, Thursday.
Schmitt was responding to Cuomo’s war on gun violence that he announced this week.
“By ending the cash bail, closing Rikers Island, defusing the police and transforming the state parole board into a hub that releases murders, rapists and other violent criminals back onto our streets, they have put the safety of every New Yorker at risk. “” Said Schmitt. “Instead of political reverence, Governor Cuomo should reconvene the state legislature and repeal every single measure it has passed that has led to the unprecedented increase in violent crime we are witnessing.
