Obituary of Sr. Patricia Johnson – Worcester Telegram & Gazette

Sister Patricia Johnson (David Robert), (12/15/1935), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died January 28, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. Hailing from Holyoke, MA, she was the daughter of Howard and Ethel (Waddington) Johnson.

Sister Patricia joined the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 1954 from Blessed Sacrament Parish, Holyoke. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Holyoke. She earned a BA from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and an MA from (then) Worcester State College.

She has taught in the Diocese of Worcester at Sacred Heart Academy and Worcester Central Catholic Middle School and St. Peter-Marian Central Catholic High School, all in Worcester. She also taught at St. Francis of Assisi School in Hillsgrove, RI. She served as secretary to the President of the Sisters of St Joseph and as secretary in the Worcester Chancery Office. After working in the Mont Marie Communications Office, she served as Secretary and Office Manager for the Office of Exceptional Children and Adults in Holyoke.

Sister was deceased by her brothers Howard Johnson and John Johnson (Barbara) and a sister, Marilyn Garvey-Morgan (Joseph). In addition to her sisters in the community, Sister is survived by her brother Donald (Rosemary) of Holyoke, MA and David of Albany, New York, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

All services for Sr. Patricia will be held on February 1, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke, MA. She is awakened at 9:30 am with a prayer service. The liturgy of the Christian funeral takes place at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Mont Marie Cemetery.
