Melville’s Central Business Systems celebrates 75 years

MELVILLE, NY — Central Business Systems of Melville celebrates 75 years.

The family business offers office technology and services, including document imaging solutions, copiers, printers, business products, professional IT, security and cloud services, as well as Voice over Internet Protocol and Unified Communications, according to a press release.

But the store had simpler beginnings.

Central Typewriters opened in Baldwin in 1948, selling its eponymous product.

While its products and services have evolved with the times, the company strives to provide ongoing customer service, reliability, integrity and adaptability.

Central Business Systems is led by co-owners Mike Chambers and Sean Infante – the President and Vice President respectively.

Chambers has more than 35 years of industry experience and in 2001 he took over as Director of Central Business Systems. The company employs more than 50 people. Infante began his career with the company in 1986, learning the industry from the bottom up. He has a reputation for building relationships with customers through personalized customer service, the company says.

“In our 75th year, we continue to evolve to offer tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” Chambers said in a press release. “We are proud and blessed that we stood the test of time to reach this milestone, and we are grateful to our dedicated employees, valued customers and community for their trust, support and continued commitment to us. “

According to Central Business Systems, Chambers and Infante donate to many local Long Island charities. The two were honored with the SCO Family of Services Shepard’s Award for their philanthropic work, while the Family Service League presented them with the Corporate Leadership Award.

Central Business Systems has been challenged by the coronavirus pandemic as many Long Island businesses and organizations transitioned from office to remote operations “virtually overnight,” the company said. The company provided remote workspace devices, video conferencing solutions, managed IT and cybersecurity to ensure customers could continue working in the evolving landscape.

“At Central Business Systems, we pride ourselves on our values of service and integrity, which have been an integral part of our business throughout our history,” said Infante. “Our 75th anniversary is a celebration of our company’s legacy, who we are today and the exciting future that lies ahead.”

Central Business Systems is located at 1219 Walt Whitman Road, Melville. It can be reached at 1-800-896-4249.
