Man dies after car crash in LIE Divider: Cops

HOLTSVILLE, NY — A Ridge man died early Saturday morning after the limousine he was driving struck a bulkhead on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville, Suffolk County Police said.

Christian Aviles was driving a 2017 Subaru Legacy westbound on the Long Island Expressway, a quarter-mile east of Exit 61, when the vehicle crashed into the center bulkhead around 4 a.m., police said.

Aviles, 37, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Detectives believe Aviles may have suffered a medical incident prior to the crash.

The police confiscated the limousine for a security check.

The lane was temporarily closed while police were investigating the scene, and later reopened.

Sixth Squad investigators continue their investigation. They are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them at 631-854-8652.
