BRENTWOOD, NY — A man is dead after police said he was hit by a car in Brentwood on Friday.
Suffolk County Police said a 32-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Acura RDX northbound on Wicks Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the lane at the Merrill Street intersection.
According to police, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, identified as 75-year-old Jose Cruz from Brentwood, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Acura was not injured. Police said her vehicle was impounded for a security check.
