Luke Bryan reinforces the audience in Syracuse: “We’re back” (see setlist, photos and concert report)

Luke Bryan performed Thursday night at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater in Lakeview, Syracuse. It was the first concert at St. Joe’s Amp in almost two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it was worth the wait.

“We’re back,” said Bryan triumphantly in the middle of his opening song, “That’s My Kind of Night”.

More than 10,000 country fans cheered in approval and celebrated the biggest concert since the coronavirus effectively killed live events last year. New York lifted most of its remaining Covid restrictions last month after meeting Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 70% vaccination goal, causing Live Nation to abandon previous plans to vaccinate all attendees. the vast majority enjoyed the night without masks and celebrated like in 2019.

“It means the world to me that you showed up after all these changes,” Bryan told the crowd, noting how many times his tour has been postponed, postponed, postponed and rescheduled.

It took Bryan a few songs to get rid of the rust – it was the first show of his 2021 tour – and then he was ready to stir the dust. He played his biggest hits, from “Huntin ‘, Fishin’ and Lovin ‘Every Day” to “Play It Again” and “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”. He danced a little cha-cha dance during “One Margarita,” high-five to the crowd in the box, and even brought in support acts Caylee Hammack and Dylan Scott for a beer-filled performance of “All My Friends Say”.

The American Idol judge also performed “Rain is a Good Thing” appropriately – although it had stopped pouring when he took the stage.

The crowd was ready to dance all night, almost as if they had pent up energy from all the canceled events, lockdowns, and quarantines. After all, Cardi B was the last time the amp put on a concert in September 2019.

Hammack did an excellent job of warming up the crowd by dancing a short set in a leopard print one-piece with a blue jacket – much like Shania Twain from the late 90s. She took photos with fans and played songs from her 2020 debut “If It Was’t for You”.

Scott, who was late on the Syracuse show – he wasn’t on the line-up when tickets went on sale in April – was just as energetic and grateful to be back on stage. He sang songs about “Beer Buddies” and briefly covered “When You Say Nothing At All”, but he sang love songs about his wife like “Nobody” and “My Girl”.

DJ Rock kept the party going between the individual acts. He mixed country hits from Jon Pardi, Kenny Chesney, and others with a variety of rock and hip-hop songs from Def Leppard, Eminem, Usher, Nelly, AC / DC, and Guns’ n Roses.

Rain is a good thing

What makes you the country

Hunt, fish and love every day

Knockin ‘boots

To stir up dust

waves

Except one

What she wants tonight

When the sun goes down

That’s how it works with us

All my friends say

Ruin my party

Roller coaster

Play it again

Sunrise, sunburn, sunset

Country girl (shake it for me)
