Firemen from Syracuse rescue outdoor event on big screen

SYRACUSE – Syracuse firefighters stopped a fire before it could have destroyed a giant movie screen for an outdoor event and possibly saved the show at the Pawnee County Fair.

Brian Burger and Randy Ragan, both from Missouri, dragged the mobile screen for evening entertainment at the show.

Burger said a rattle turned into a loud pop and they lost engine power on Highway 50. They soon found that the truck was on fire.

Although the fire raged through the truck and its contents, the firefighters extinguished the fire before it could spread to the mobile exhibition trailer.

Burger: “It’s more or less a big screen TV for live events and we went to Pawnee City for a live event.”

The men hoped to get a tow truck for the trailer to get to the event on time.

Burger: “As you know, the show has to go on.”
