CNY ends the year on a mild and wet note

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – 2022 ends on a mild note in central New York. Temperatures remain in the 40s and 50s for the rest of the year.

Winter break feels more like spring break:

Winter continues to pause as we wrap up the final days of 2022.

We broke the high for Friday in Syracuse with at least 63 degrees. That’s about 30 degrees above normal for the end of December!

New Year’s could be one of the warmest ever, or at least in the top 5! Still aiming for the low to mid 50’s for the Saturday afternoon highs.

It shouldn’t rain much, if any, in the morning. If you’re heading out with the family on any plans for the New Year’s Eve, it’s a good idea to prepare for some rain. Chances are slim but some light afternoon showers are possible.

There’s a chance you’ll shower at dinner and see the ball drop at midnight. Our temperatures remain in the 40’s overnight into early Sunday morning.

Hello, 2023:

However, New Year’s Eve will not be quite as mild.

It gets cooler to start the new year as temperatures dip into the 30s throughout the day.

The good news most of all. if not all, Sunday will be dry.

It looks like another mild push is headed toward central New York and the Northeast early next week. It’s looking more and more like we’re heading back into the 50s Tuesday and Wednesday, but that will come with more showers.

There is still no sign of winter weather to speak of (either cold or snow) by the end of next week.
