Albany man charged with drug trafficking | USAO-NDNY

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Khalif Crawford, age 28, was arrested today on charges of owning cocaine bases with the intent to distribute them while on trial.

The announcement was made by US Attorney Carla B. Freedman and John B. DeVito, the special envoy for the New York branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

The indictment alleges Crawford owned more than 28 grams of cocaine base that he tried to distribute. The charge in the indictment is just an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The indictment filed against Crawford provides for a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of up to US $ 5 million, and a minimum supervised release period of 4 years.

A defendant is sentenced by a judge based on the law the defendant is alleged to be violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.

This case is being investigated by the ATF and the Albany Police Department and is being pursued by U.S. Assistant Attorney Dustin Segovia.
