17-year-old shot dead on the north side of Syracuse

Syracuse, NY – A 17-year-old boy was shot dead on the North Side of Syracuse on Thursday afternoon.

The shooting occurred at 12:28 p.m. in Block 100 of Strand Place, Syracuse Police Spokesman Sgt. Said Matthew Malinowski. Strand Place is near the Park and Mary Street.

The teenager was shot in the groin and is expected to survive, according to a press release from the Syracuse police. He is being treated at Upstate University Hospital, Malinowski said.

Police cordoned off Mary Street from Strand Place to Neutral Court and Park Street from Pond Street to Mary Street.

The officers examined and photographed a silver limousine parked at an angle on Strand Place.
