ORCHARD PARK — Joe Mixon is still talking. Of course, when he’s not accumulating mileage as both a runner and receiver, the Cincinnati Bengals running back do.
Before the first game between the Bengals and Buffalo Bills, Mixon wasn’t too pleased that the West New York visitors were easy favorites for their showdown at Paycor Stadium, and he said so. According to.
“What people need to know and understand is that we’re the big dog of the AFC,” Mixon said. “That’s it. For something to happen, it has to go through us.”
Mixon doubled down on Wednesday as the Bengals re-occupied the underdog role for their AFC divisional round showdown at Highmark Stadium.
“We’re not outsiders,” Mixon said. “I tell everyone all the time, when the lights are bright, we shine brighter. All I know is that going into this game we only have one thing in mind and that is to win. That’s the only thing we’re worried about.”

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who is also a player known for his tremendous confidence, not to mention swagger, agreed, saying, “I never feel like an underdog.”
The Bills almost never talk before the game. This week, the Bills gave the Bengals their props and avoided any bragging about which team was better.
“They’ve won (nine) in a row and it’s a team that’s going to be hard to beat,” said Josh Allen. “They come into our house and they play with a lot of confidence and that we have to be ready for anything they can throw.
Allen wasn’t about to get into a debate about which team was better or if he was better than Burrow, but there was one area where he no doubt nodded to Burrow.
When asked to compare his understated wardrobe to the, um, interesting fashion statements Burrow makes when he hits stadiums on game day, Allen said with a smile, “He’s going to win this fight 10 times out of 10. I don’t dress to impress on game day, I just go in the closet and take what I see first.
