Vehicle crashes into Ridge Post Office lobby, Suffolk Police say

A post office in Ridge has been closed indefinitely after a vehicle crashed into its lobby Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said. No one was injured, according to the authorities.

Police said the incident at the post office building at 1700 Middle Country Road was reported on an 911 at around 1:25 p.m.

With police continuing their investigation on Tuesday, no further details were immediately revealed, but authorities said they suspected no crime. Brookhaven City Building Inspectors have been called to the site to assess possible structural damage. Meanwhile, a Post spokesman said the post office will remain closed until it is considered safe to reopen.

For mail order and retail services, customers are advised to visit neighboring post offices such as the Shoreham Post Office (at 69 Rt. 25A, Shoreham, NY 11786) and the Middle Island Post Office (at 780 Middle Country Rd., Middle Island, NY) 11953). The opening times of these two post offices are: Mon-Fri 9 am-5pm and Saturday 9 am-1pm
