The KeyBank Foundation is investing $545,000 to support people development and community initiatives in central New York – Oswego County today

CNY – The KeyBank Foundation is investing a total of $555,000 in several nonprofits in central New York to support people development and community initiatives. These grants are part of KeyBank’s $40 billion National Community Benefits Plan, which represents its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Funded organizations include:

Syracuse Jubilee Homes – $150,000

This KeyBank Foundation investment will support Jubilee Homes of Syracuse Inc.’s (JHS) Build to Work (B2W) program. The JHS Build to Work program is based on the principle that job seekers without the required skills will not be considered for high demand jobs. Without professional training and certification, they have fewer opportunities for professional development and advancement. Build to Work provides uprooted workers and long-term unemployed participants with vocational and educational training, including hands-on learning and classroom instruction, combining academics and work experience.

The funds will help Jubilee Homes begin the restoration of Creekside Landing at 416 West Onondaga Street in Syracuse in 2023, a site that will house the Workforce Skill Training Center. It will also support Jubilee’s collaboration with Syracuse Builds to create training programs that improve participants’ ability to find long-term employment through in-demand construction trades.

The target for Build to Work over the next three years is that at least 60 people (20 participants per year) complete the Build to Work program and 25% (five participants per year) of customers complete one convey job.

Le Moyne College – $150,000

The funds will be used to expand the college’s ERIE21 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program to senior high school students (Lock 2 of the ERIE21 program) and incoming freshmen at Le Moyne College (Lock 3) from low-income majors Backgrounds in central New York. ERIE21 is a bold, visionary initiative aimed at tackling the region’s twin problems of persistently high levels of poverty in Syracuse and the inability of employers to attract and retain the skilled workforce needed to fill current vacancies, as well as the threat of brain drain Baby boomers are required by the workforce.

Serving as both a comprehensive and long-term strategy, ERIE21 provides early intervention (in middle school) and provides ongoing support to students in high school, college and beyond to strengthen the region’s capacity to develop a pipeline that supports native talent to meet the growing demand for computer, software and engineering talent.

Le Moyne College, one of 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, is a private four-year institution enrolling approximately 2,600 full-time students in liberal arts, science, business, and pre-vocational programs and 800 full-time students. and part-time students in graduate programs. Since its founding in 1946, the college has modeled and strengthened nearly 500 years of Jesuit educational tradition.

  • Interfaith Works of Central New York—TARR Community Wide Dialogue
  • Ministries of Victory Temple – Community Feeding Program
  • Nile Dayne Foundation – Walk, See, Be, Tutor & Mentor
  • PEACE Inc. – Low Income Tax Preparation Program
  • Utica Monday Nite – Artist Refinery Program
  • WISE Women’s Business Center – “Exito!” Latina Entrepreneurship Program
