Syracuse’s Burnet Park pool to reopen after 2 year closure for renovations

Syracuse, NY — The Burnet Park pool will reopen Saturday after being closed for two years for renovations, city officials said Friday.

The pool reopens at noon and will remain open for the rest of the summer season, according to a news release by Syracuse’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Pool hours will be Monday through Saturday, noon to 7 pm and Sunday, 1 to 7 pm

The pool was closed for renovations, which cost the city $1.5 million, officials said. The renovations included rebuilding the pool’s foundation and deteriorating walls, and removing the chlorinated water for a saltwater system, according to the release.

The renovations were funded by the American Rescue Plan, officials said.

Burnet Park pool is the first of four pools in the city scheduled to be converted to saltwater this year, according to the release.

Thornden, Valley and Southwest pools will follow later in the season, officials said.
