Syracuse police investigating early morning shooting on city’s South Side

Syracuse, NY — A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg early Saturday morning on the city’s South Side, police said.

Officers were called at about 2:53 am to the 1100 block of South McBride Street, Syracuse police spokesman Lt. Matthew Malinowski said Saturday afternoon in a news release.

At about the same time the man who was shot arrived at Crouse Hospital with the gunshot wound, Malinowski said. The man whose identity was not immediately released by the police is expected to survive.

Evidence of a shooting, including several shell casings, were found on South McBride Street, Malinowski said. A vehicle in the area was also hit by gunfire, he said.

The Syracuse Police Department asks anyone with information about the shooting to call them at 315-442-5222.
