Syracuse man sentenced to 84 months in prison for drug offenses | USAO-NDNY

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Waldemar Colon, 45 years old, of Syracuse, was sentenced yesterday to 84 months in federal prison on charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin, fentanyl and cocaine; and assisting and promoting the distribution of heroin and fentanyl, announced U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman, John B. DeVito, Special Representative for the New York Field Service Department of the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Ray Donovan, US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent, and Chief Kenton Buckner, City of Syracuse Police Department.

Colon was also ordered to serve a 5-year prison term with supervised release after serving his sentence.

As part of his earlier admission of guilt, Colon admitted that he had conspired with Luis Carrasquillo and Isidro De Los Santos to sell heroin mixed with fentanyl and cocaine from De Los Santos’ apartment on Gifford Street, Syracuse, as part of a conspiracy involving the existed from December 2018 to January 31, 2019. Colon also pleaded guilty to assisting the sale of a heroin and fentanyl mixture on December 19, 2018.

On January 31, 2019, ATF special agents, assisted by the DEA and the Intelligence Unit of the Syracuse Police Department, carried out a federal search warrant in the residence of Isidro De Los Santos and seized over twenty-one ounces (608 grams) of heroin mixed with fentanyl in two packages . A state search warrant executed on the same day in the adjoining home of another involved defendant, Anthony Moreno, resulted in the seizure of over 18 ounces (521 grams) of cocaine.

Isidro De Los Santos pleaded guilty to the distribution and possession plot with intent to distribute controlled substances as well as controlled substance distribution and was sentenced to nine years (108 months) and 5 years imprisonment on November 13, 2020. sentenced -year of supervised discharge.

Anthony Moreno pleaded guilty to the conspiracy to possess the property with intent to distribute controlled substances and was sentenced to 51 months in prison on November 17, 2020, followed by a 5 year prison term under custody.

Luis Carrasquillo pleaded guilty to the distribution and possession conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and controlled substances and was sentenced to 71 months and 5 years in prison on November 4, 2021.

This case has been investigated by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Syracuse Police Department-Intelligence Section, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and followed up by US Assistant Attorney Richard Southwick
