Suffolk County students put their artistic skills to good use.

As part of a long running Eastern Suffolk BOCES program they painted wig stands for cancer patients who had lost their hair to medical treatment.

For Hampton Bays High School senior Haley Demarast, her painting was personal.

“My grandmother had cancer and died before I could even meet her, so making these wig stands means a lot to me,” said Demarast. “So I kinda remember…that might have been for her.”

The program has just resumed after a three-year pandemic hiatus.
