OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Oakland’s starting pitchers had been so dominant during this final stretch until Kyle Seager and Seattle struck off, taking it to Sean Manaea.

Seager had a double with two runs among his three hits and three RBIs in the decisive third inning, Mitch Haniger added two doubles and the Mariners defeated the Athletics 4-2 on Monday night in a matchup of teams attempting wildcard competition to stay .

Seager hit his career high with 99 RBIs.

“Another would be a really nice number for me,” he said.

Tyler Anderson (2-1) hit seven and went one over seven impressive innings, winning a four-hit run for the first time in six starts since August 17 in Texas. Anderson is the first of three left-handers to face Oakland in the four-game series.

Ty France added an RBI single in the third manaea (10-10) that tied his career with losses. The A got one back in the bottom half on a double from Khris Davis, but that was it up to Starling Martes run-scoring single in the eighth.

Oakland are two games behind Toronto on the second AL wildcard, while Seattle narrowed their gap to three games behind the Blue Jays.

Paul Sewald finished the 2-hour, 47-minute game on his ninth save after the A-players lost their five-game winning streak.
