Schenectady man arrested for possession of child pornography | USAO-NDNY

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Rodolfo Bogado, 38, of Schenectady, New York, was arrested today on charges of possessing video and image files containing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Acting Buffalo Special Agent Matthew Scarpino announced Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

The charges against Bogado carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and a supervised prison term of at least 5 years and up to life. A defendant’s sentence will be determined by a judge based on the particular law that the defendant is accused of violating, US sentencing guidelines, and other factors. In addition, if convicted, Bogado would have to register as a sex offender.

Bogado made his first appearance in Albany today before US Supreme Court Judge Daniel J. Stewart and was detained pending further trial.

The allegations in the Complaint are allegations only. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This case is being investigated by HSI and the New York State Police and is being pursued by Assistant US Attorney Emily C. Powers as part of Project Safe Childhood.
