Police flood to South Clinton Street after reported shooting at downtown apartment building

Syracuse, NY — There was a large police presence Thursday night on South Clinton Street after a reported shooting at a downtown apartment building.

It was initially reported that gunshots were fired at about 9:51 pm at the Clinton Plaza Apartments, 550 South Clinton St., according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.

At about 10 pm, a man was found in apartment 1303 with multiple gunshot wounds, according to initial 911 dispatch reports.

Police were reported to be giving the man CPR.

An American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance was parked in front of the apartment building and about seven Syracuse police cruisers were parked along South Clinton Street.

Multiple people were standing near the building’s entrance and one man said a police officer told him he could not enter the building.

A Syracuse police spokesperson was not immediately available to comment on the shooting or the man’s condition.
