More bars and restaurants in Allentown are in need of a COVID vaccine

ALLENTOWN NY (WIVB) – There is a way for Erie County companies to bypass the mask requirement by requiring customers to be vaccinated. More and more companies are demanding a vaccination mandate, including half a dozen bars and restaurants on Allen Street in Buffalo.

“It’s easier and simpler and less stressful for our employees,” says Marc Frisicaro, who owns Frizzy’s bar. “At the moment it’s just a business decision because we can’t cope with any setbacks at the moment and I don’t see anything better. They know that COVID is going nowhere. “

Bars and restaurants along Allen Street are doing what they can to keep the community safe and, lately, that has meant seeing their client ID and COVID vaccination card.

“Almost all of the bars on Allen Street took the vaccination order,” Frisicaro said. “It just made it a lot easier and simpler for business. Security could just check that they have their vaccination card instead of being the masked police.”

Other bars along Allen Street that require vaccination include The Old Pink, Nietzsche’s, Allen Street Hardware, and Colter Bay.

Mac McGuire, who helps run Nietzsche, says they introduced a vaccination mandate on Sept. 17 after noticing musicians and patrons hesitant to stop by.

McGuire says he is “happy that he made it. It makes people comfortable. “He added that” it’s great to see other companies doing this “.

Mitch Nowakowski, a member of the Buffalo Common Council, says he respects the businesses in his district for taking the initiative and urges people to support local businesses.

“I think this also shows that the business world is really taking into account the times we live in, especially during COVID-19, and based on their decision and not on a mandate basis, but on their own initiative”, he said. “We have to do everything we can to support small local businesses and restaurants to make sure they stay open. This pandemic has lasted long enough and we hope residents will take precautions and respect best practices to reduce virus transmission and get vaccinated. “
