series history: Georgia Tech holds a 5-3 all-time series advantage. In fact, Syracuse hasn’t beaten the Yellow Jackets since 2018 and hasn’t won at the McCamish Pavilion since 2015. The Orange fell to Georgia Tech in the Dome last year 65-55.

Syracuse has been playing good basketball lately, winning three of their last four. The two most recent losses were close bouts against high-level opponents at NC State and Notre Dame. Orange’s three most recent wins have all been in double digits, including two on the road. It’s an almost entirely new squad this season compared to last as the program has undergone huge changes. Felisha Legette-Jack was hired during the off-season to help rebuild the program and made a huge difference in the first year. She brought several transfers with her that helped turn things around after a losing season last season. Dyaisha Fair leads the team in goals (19.6), assists (4.2) and steals (2.6). The Orange has three players who average more than two steals per game. Teisha Hyman does a little of everything, averaging 12.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Syracuse shoots a lot of shots from three-point range despite shooting just 30% from deep the season. Dariauna Lewis was huge on the inside, averaging 9.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. She has nine double-doubles in the season.

Georgia Tech started the season well, taking a 9-2 lead in non-conference play. These included wins over Michigan State and Auburn. It’s been a big fight since the start of the ACC game, however, as the Yellow Jackets are 0-7 against conference foes. It comes into the Syracuse game after an 18-point home loss to Duke. Guard Cameron Swartz leads the team with 11.8 points per game. She shoots only 31.7% from the field and 25.5% from three-point range. Bianca Jackson is the only other player averaging double digits at 11.2 points per game. As a team, Georgia Tech shoots just 36.7% from the field and 28.4% from three-point range.
