GOMA, Congo (AP) – At least six people were killed and more than a dozen others injured in a suspected extremist attack on a church in eastern Congo, according to the country’s army.

A group linked to Islamic extremists has been suspected of being responsible for a bomb that exploded at the Pentecostal Church in the city of Kasindi, North Kivu province, military spokesman Anthony Mwalushayi told The Associated Press over the phone.

A Kenyan national who was found at the scene without documents has been arrested, Mwalushayi said.

Videos and photos of the attack seen by the AP showed the injured being carried out of the church surrounded by other screaming people.

The village of Kasindi, on the border with Uganda, has been hit by several attacks by Allied Democratic Forces fighters believed to be linked to the Islamic State group.
