Cole Swider continues hot streak with 21 points, but Los Angeles Lakers lose in 2-OT

Syracuse, NY ― Cole Swider scored 21 points; a personal best through five NBA summer league games, but it wasn’t enough as the Los Angeles Lakers suffered an 89-86 double-overtime loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night in Las Vegas.

Swider, the former Syracuse player, came into the game on a hot streak and stayed hot. The 6-foot-9 forward connected on five of his eight shots from 3-point range. He was 6-for-10 overall from the field.

Swider is now averaging 13.2 points through five summer league games with the Lakers. He has connected on 17 out of 30 shots from 3-point range (56.6%).

Swider signed a two-way deal with Los Angeles shortly after the conclusion of the NBA draft two weeks ago and he has been making a strong case for himself during summer league play.

The Lakers’ next game in Las Vegas will be on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers. The game, which starts at 11 pm Eastern, will be televised on NBA TV.

In other summer league action, the Detroit Pistons, whose roster includes former Syracuse players Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim, will play the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday at 9 pm The game, too, will be on NBA TV.
