Car crashes into water at Bay Shore Marina, driver killed

Homicide investigators are investigating an accident that killed a driver after his car plunged into freezing bay waters off a boat ramp at a Bay Shore marina Thursday night.

The incident was reported in an 911 call at 6:20 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.

Police did not release the victim’s identity until notified. According to police, the victim was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

He was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Details surrounding the incident were not immediately clear. Police said updates are expected later on Friday.
