5-star Target Electric against the best prep team in the nation

Several Syracuse five-star basketball targets were on par at an event in South Carolina recently, and one of those Orange contenders put in an absolutely phenomenal performance, according to a national recruiting analyst.

A variety of outstanding teams recently met at the Made Hoops Southeast Preview in Rock Hill, SC.

Two five-star players, both from Baltimore and with ‘Cuse scholarship offers, are eligible for the Montverde Academy. They are five-star striker Kwame Evans Jr. in 2023 and five-star striker Derik Queen in 2024.

The 6-foot-9 Evans is number 2 across the country within the 2023 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-8 queen is # 2 overall on his cycle, according to ESPN. It was only in the past few weeks that Orange trainers offered Queen and Evans.

Five-star basketball candidates from Syracuse competed against each other at an event recently.

Rivals.com national analyst Jamie Shaw said Orange’s 2023 five-star target GG Jackson and his teammates faced Montverde Academy during a game at the Made Hoops Southeast Preview.

Jackson was guarded by Evans and other elite players from the Montverde Academy throughout the competition. Per Shaw, Jackson finished with 27 points and seven rebounds while hitting 2-out-of-3 attempts from beyond the arch.

Rivals.com national analyst wrote in part of Jackson: “The 6-foot-9 junior showed his ability to make the jump, end on the edge and even pull on a pair of sweaters.”

That’s mightily impressive stuff from Jackson, a high profile power forward who visits Ridge View High School in Columbia, SC, visits the preseason # 1 team nationwide in at least some major polls.

National analysts and recruiting insiders suggest that North Carolina, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Blue Blood program, is getting a lot of excitement regarding Jackson’s recruiting.

He received an offer from Syracuse Basketball in August 2020, and that was Jackson’s first scholarship offer from a college team. Several recruiting services now have Jackson among the top 10 prospects overall within the 2023 class.

In a separate article recently, Rob Cassidy, director of basketball recruitment at Rivals.com, said that Jackson, who has a flurry of important offers, could end up battling it out for # 1 in the national rankings in 2023.
