Elijah Moore, a Class of 2024 four-star shooting guard from the Bronx, made a verbal commitment to Syracuse Saturday, choosing the orange over Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma State. He had 11 different offers.

Moore, who is from Cardinal Hayes High School, is listed at 6ft 4 and 170 pounds and is ranked the 97th best player nationally, 22nd best shooting guard and 5th best in New York for the Class of 2024 rankings, according to the 247sports federation . He received an offer from Syracuse on November 23, 2022, the same day he was also offered six other programs.

On Tuesday earlier in the week, SU booster and entrepreneur Adam Weistman invited Moore to sit courtside for the Orange vs. North Carolina game at the JMA Wireless Dome. Moore was flown by a private jet after 37 points, six rebounds and four assists in a high school game earlier that day.

Moore’s visit was in reference to a NIL contract Weistman offered Moore should he choose Syracuse. However, due to Weitsman’s status as an SU booster, the pair did not engage in recruitment talks to comply with NCAA rules.

“There will be no recruitment by the university,” Weistman told syracuse.com. “This is an unofficial visit. When (a recruit) makes an official visit, I have nothing to do with it and I don’t talk to them. The two things are completely separate.

Moore is Syracuse’s first verbal commitment in the Class of 2024. The Orange has no commitments for the Class of 2023, in part because of their freshman class, which was deep six times last year.
