  1. Oh, that smell! Can’t you smell that smell? Buffalo Botanical Gardens has a special flower blooming. The corpse flower is a rare blossom that only blooms every six to 10 years. The most notable side effect of the bloom is the absolutely retched smell. Affectionately named Morty Jr., the corpse flower will only be at full bloom today and tomorrow, so don’t wait to get yourself a whiff. (Spectrum News)
  2. More than 30,000 backpacks were filled during this year’s Fill The Backpack campaign. The program is aimed at making sure kids are able to eat well while school is out. 30,615 backpacks were filled this year with food for kids to enjoy during the weekend. Fill The Backpack raised funds between Jun. 26 and Jul. 9 for the program. (WIVB.com – News 4)
  3. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help in finding the shooter of a family pet. The family cat, named Chase, was shot by a pellet gun and rushed to the vet. He is currently at home resting after treatment. According to the Sheriff’s Office, all potential leads have been exhausted and they are now turning to the public for information. (WGRZ.com)
